Engineer. Builder. Developer. Tinkerer. Always making something.

Currently a Quality Software Development Intern at Magna

About

I’m Ishpreet, a Computer Engineering student at McMaster. I like building things that sit between software and hardware, and I’m usually drawn to whichever problem seems most interesting at the time.

Right now I’m a Quality Software Development Intern at Magna. In my free time I’m building Pockit, a personal finance and budgeting app, along with other side projects I pick up because they sound fun to build.

Selected projects

What I’ve been building, both finished and in progress.

  • FPGA Image Decompression

From compressed image data to a reconstructed VGA image, all in hardware.

A hardware image-decompression pipeline that receives compressed data over UART, stores it in SRAM, processes it on the FPGA, and reconstructs the result through VGA output.

  • FoundryWork in progress

A sales automation platform for small agencies that researches prospects, drafts grounded outreach, and keeps a human in the loop before anything is sent.

Foundry is an experiment in making outbound sales automation more reliable. Instead of letting an AI freely invent personalization, the system researches a prospect's actual site and requires generated claims to trace back to real source material.

  • PockitIn development

A personal finance and budgeting app that tries to make money feel less overwhelming.

Pockit is a personal finance and budgeting app I’m building to make money management feel less overwhelming. The idea is to bring transactions, budgets, goals, saving, and investing into one simple place, then use intelligent insights to help explain what your money is actually doing.

Experience

Work that taught me how engineering actually gets used outside a classroom.

  • Quality Software Development Intern

    Magna International · Markham, ON

    May 2026 – Present

I build internal software for the Supplier, Warranty, and Customer Quality teams. Most projects start with a manual or repetitive process and end with a tool that handles it, connecting systems, cleaning up data, and automating reporting. Several have grown into production applications used across the facility, and I own many of them end to end, from scoping the problem and designing the data model to building and supporting the application.

Things I’ve worked with: C# · Python · Power Automate · Power Apps · Dataverse · Azure SQL

  • Facility Operations Attendant

City of Brampton · Brampton, ON

    May 2024 – Present

I work across facility and event operations, handling inventory, scheduling, A/V setup, and day-of logistics. The role has taught me to stay organized and solve problems quickly when plans change in real time.

  • Direct Sales Specialist

    TELUS · Mississauga, ON

    Apr 2024 – Jun 2024

I worked directly with customers to find the right telecom products and plans. The role taught me to listen first, understand what someone actually needs, and explain solutions clearly.

Education

  • B.Eng., Computer Engineering

    McMaster University · Hamilton, ON

    Sept 2023 – Present

Computer Engineering has let me work across the whole stack, from digital hardware and embedded systems to algorithms, software, and signals. The work I enjoy most sits in between, where software has to interact with real hardware.
